Christopher Boodram was living a complete­ly different life two years ago.

He was employed as a diver with LMCS Ltd and was able to care for his wife and three young children.

But everything changed in the days after February 25, 2022.

Boodram and four other divers—Fyzal Kurban, Kazim Ali Jnr, Rishi Nagassar and Yusuf Henry—went out to the Berth 6 platform, off Pointe-a-Pierre, to reach the entrance of a hyper­ba­ric chamber where they were working on a 30-inch (0.76-­­metre) pipeline rising from the sea.

What happened next brought hurt to every citizen.

It brought together a nation. People stood still for more than a week, following every morsel of new information, as the four divers remained trapped inside that pipeline with no attempt to rescue them.

People felt as if they were all in there, breathing slowly, in the dark, terrified, hopeful of rescue.
